What is COVAX?
COVAX is a global initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to
COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. It is co-led by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the World Health Organization (WHO); and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). COVAX was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that people in all corners of the world get access to life-saving vaccines, regardless of their country's wealth.
Why is COVAX Important in the Context of Infectious Diseases?
The rapid spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19 highlights the importance of international collaboration in vaccine distribution. COVAX plays a critical role in preventing vaccine

How Does COVAX Work?
COVAX operates as a

These doses are then distributed to participating countries based on need and capacity to deliver vaccines. COVAX aims to deliver vaccines to at least 20% of the population in participating countries, focusing on high-risk groups such as healthcare workers and the elderly.
What Challenges Does COVAX Face?
Despite its noble goals, COVAX faces several challenges. One major issue is
funding; the initiative relies heavily on donations from high-income countries and international organizations. Additionally, there are logistical challenges in delivering vaccines to low-resource settings, including a lack of infrastructure and cold chain facilities. Vaccine
